About Alva
The Person Behind Breeze …
I’m a native Texan who discovered my love for writing as a teen. My first professional writing opportunity came as a weekly columnist for the Garland Daily News – a position I held my junior and senior years in high school! I’ve been writing ever since, exploring and expanding my media to include: national and local magazines, brochures, catalogs, websites, press releases, video, radio and advertising. Along the way, I discovered a love of implementing visual graphics in communication and fell in love with developing strategic marketing strategies, then executing them creatively.
Throughout my career, my work has included journalist, copywriter, creative director, web producer, public relations, event planning/trade shows, photo shoot coordinator, production production art geek, and national marketing director. If you’ve been to a Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Lowes, or Payless Cashways nationwide in the past decade, there’s a very good chance you’ve seen my work first-hand. As marketing director, I produced national advertising, marketing, and public relations campaigns for B2B and B2C markets. I also created comprehensive co-op advertising and marketing programs for dealers and distributors to increase their profitability on the local stage.
I believe small businesses are the heart of our country’s economy and my commitment is to deliver effective strategies to enhance your marketing program. As an award-winning national marketing director, the in-house agency I was blessed to shepherd lead the industry in creative/effective marketing campaigns – which our competition followed – and my company’s profits soared from about $78 million to over $300 million in just eight years.
Headquartered in a north Dallas suburb, I now prefer a virtual office for inspired creativity – some days the office is outdoors, some days in – any locale can become a creative shop for inspirational results-driven productivity!
I’m a visionary who brings experience, innovation, and passion to each project I accept. Integrity-based, my desire is to use my expertise to fuel businesses’ growth on the local and national stage. I don’t believe in brick walls … there is always a way around, over, under – or through them; let’s see what brick walls we can break through together!
When not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two three rescue dogs, gardening, traveling, hiking, studying Scripture, and in 2009, I took on a new challenge – running … completing both the 5-person relay AND Half Marathon in the 2009 White Rock Marathon! Next up … a Texas triathlon and of course softball!
